The 54 precincts in Union County are the cornerstone of the local Democratic Party. Participating at the precinct level offers you opportunities for greater involvement. Precinct leaders serve as delegates to the county convention, submit resolutions, and are eligible to vote for the leadership of the party.
Precincts are also the grassroots of the Democratic Party — local volunteers talking neighbor to neighbor, encouraging fellow Democrats and others to register and vote. Getting involved with your precinct results in higher voter turnout and more elections won. In fact, it’s one of the most effective tools we can use. Precinct volunteers are key to identifying inactive and/or unregistered Democrats in the neighborhood and encouraging them to vote in upcoming elections.
PRECINCT ORGANIZATION
Whether you are part of a countywide precinct meeting or your precinct is meeting on its own, there are 3 goals for a precinct.
- Attend Precinct Organizational Meeting in the Spring, elect precinct Leadership, collect donations, and the report meeting
- Attend County Convention to elect County Executive Committee and pass resolutions
- Hold events throughout the year with neighbors and precincts close together to get people to raise money and volunteer to get more Democrats in office.
